ProCare provides a casual relief service for several NGOs and Government agencies across Brisbane. Shifts vary from transport work, supervising family contact visits and providing day respite for carers. You will provide support to clients within the child protection, mental health and disability sectors. Shifts include day, evening, and weekend shifts. ProCares hourly pay rates are excellent. We can allocate you shifts around your university or work schedule although we are currently seeking workers with some weekday availability. Youth Workers with qualifications and experience are urgently required in all Brisbane areas, North & South! Workers must have a car with comprehensive car insurance and be flexible and willing to undertake a variety of shifts.

The Organisation
Our customer is a long standing not-for-profit, community organisation working across Queensland to provide a range of services to people from refugee backgrounds, including asylum seekers, who have survived torture or war related trauma. The service delivers support to adults, young people, children and families in the form of counselling, advocacy, group work, psycho-education, information sessions, and recreational programs. Services to clients are coupled with referral, training and education roles aimed at developing and strengthening the resources of various communities and service providers.
This organisation is managed by a committee drawn from refugee communities, human rights workers, health and welfare workers who have experience in providing services to people of refugee background.
The Role
This exciting opportunity is state-wide as the service has multiple roles as Counsellor Advocate part time permanent (20 hours per week). The roles available are based in Cairns and Rockhampton.
The Counsellor Advocate role is responsible for providing support to refugees and asylum seekers, undertaking comprehensive psycho-social assessments, counseling, advocating on behalf of clients and their families, maintaining comprehensive client files and providing education and training about refugee issues to other services.
Your ability to multitask and work along side clients is vital. You will ensure that building and evolving people’s strengths and resilience is a natural course of interaction; while being culturally attuned. Maintaining a high level of administration compliance is necessary to ensure effective and clear correspondence. You will need to continue to use your creative side to inspire while being prepared to be flexible when needed and remain sensitive and ethical to the needs of the clients.
To be successful
- Possession of relevant Tertiary qualifications and/or sector experience in a similar position
- Experience in counselling and the ability to undertake comprehensive assessments
- Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in working with people from refugee/asylum seeker backgrounds and an understanding of their settlement issues
- Capacity to work with interpreters including demonstrated experience in advocating on behalf of client groups with a range of government departments and community agencies
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment as well as independently with organisational policies, procedures and funding contract guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to clients and their families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Current QLD Drivers licence
- Eligibility for membership of a professional body..
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for the part time positions are $55, 083 - $ 57, 553 (pro rata/per annum) with salary sacrifice options available.

About the organisation
Our customer is a well established organisation providing Out of Home Care residential support to young people across SE QLD. They have developed a solid reputation for quality service provision as well as supporting the professional development of staff.
About the Role
This is a permanent full time role based on Brisbane’s North side. This is a key role within the organisation that provides support to a team of residential youth workers and to the management team; ensuring that the services operational needs are met. You will be providing this support within a fast paced and often changing environment, but with rewarding outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
You will be required to mentor, support and supervise a team of staff who themselves are working with challenging young people. You will do this by drawing upon your understanding and knowledge of trauma based behaviours, and relationship based responses. You will be required to contribute to the initial assessment and entry process of the young people who are referred to the service.
You will be required to provide support to both staff and management for a large part of the operational needs, be responsible for the rostering of support workers, implementing case plans, house maintenance, team development and supervision of youth workers. You will be required to build strong positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and participate in the development of internal policies and procedures.
As you will be providing this support within a fast paced environment, you will have the ability to cope in such an environment, have excellent time management skills, strong administration skills, maintain and be accountable for program resources, including staffing, physical and financial resources.
There is an Oncall component to this role.
To be successful:
- Relevant degree and/or significant experience working with young people with complex needs.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development, child protection and issues facing vulnerable young people
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, providing guidance, supervision and support to vulnerable young people-moved this around
- Demonstrated ability to provide supervision and support to staff
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by young people in care and the ability to formulate positive therapeutic strategies
- An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.

Salary & Benefits
A base salary of $61K plus super, salary sacrifice and other entitlements (including the very attractive 6 monthly bonuses). This works out to be a salary package of approximately $75K

About the role
The Program Manager will be responsible for the overall daily management of the mental health programs and ensure that services provided are targeted to the specific and individualised needs of clients.
This role will be responsible for the daily operations of two programs that include a short term recovery focused service providing support to people who are homeless and accessing boarding houses and subsidised accommodation and managing individual packages that includes P300, ADSL and HACC.
This role provides supervision and coordination of a team of Case Managers and a Community Development Worker; ensuring that gaols, targets and KPI’s are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop key working relationships with agencies, service users and families.
- Assess referral information and provide information on other relevant service options to clients.
- The Program Manager will promote quality achievement and performance improvement through debriefing, supervision and providing relevant training opportunities to staff.
- This role will ensure that the service is compliant with the National and International standards and legislation
- Liaise and work closely with the Operations Manager to achieve budget sales numbers and meet the expected financial performance of the business
To be Successful
- Tertiary qualification in a Social Science, Health Discipline or similar
- Minimum three years experience within the welfare industry
- Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of staff
- Knowledge of current Qld mental health legislation and reform and knowledge and management of individual client packages
- Demonstrated understanding of mental health recovery models and how this translates into practice

About the organisation
This is a large organisation specialising in providing high quality therapeutic support services to vulnerable children and families. This organisation provides a range of services including early intervention support to families with client focused care.
About the Role
This is approximately a 6 month fixed term contract that has the potential for extension and/or permanency, and is based at Underwood. As an experienced Early Intervention Case Manager you will be required to provide psychosocial and needs assessment, and case planning as required by families. You will work with a team of family support workers who will assist in the implementation of the case plan, and provide in home support to families.
Key responsibilities:
This role is responsible for providing psychosocial and needs assessments, case planning, reviews and evaluations for young people and their families. You will be required to coordinate services that are needed by the family; you will be required to keep accurate and timely records.
You will be required to develop strong positive relationships with key stakeholders and other service providers including Department of Child Safety in order to facilitate client outcomes. In this role you will have the support of a team of family support workers to implement case plans and support families. As the family support workers will be working closely with the families, you will need to provide peer support and mentoring to ensure they have all the tools needed to meet client’s needs.
To be successful:
- Relevant qualifications in Social Sciences or similar
- Demonstrated experience in case management
- Demonstrated skills in case management, counselling and knowledge of therapeutic processes and practices
- Demonstrated ability to develop & maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including service users and families
